What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a prosthetic tooth root consisting of a small titanium post that is surgically placed within the jaw. The material itself is not only extremely strong, but the titanium will actually meld with the surrounding bone—just like your regular tooth roots—to create an extremely stable foundation that can serve as the anchor for a crown, bridge, or denture.

The 4-Step Dental Implant Process

  • Initial Dental Implant Consultation: Are dental implants right for you? Our team will discuss your goals, examine your mouth, and go over your options so we can determine together if this treatment is best suited to your situation.
  • Dental Implant Surgery: If you decide to proceed, one of our prosthodontists will plan and perform your placement surgery in-house using X-navigation digital technology.
  • Healing Period: Your mouth will heal over the course of four to six months, during which your implants will bond with your jaw.
  • Delivery of Dental Implant Restoration(s): Our prosthodontists will finalize the treatment by attaching your tooth or teeth to your implants and complete the smile.

Benefits of Dental Implants

The reason our dentists recommend dental implants to every patient with missing teeth is because they:

  • Look more lifelike than regular dentures or bridges
  • Are more stable than traditional dental prosthetics
  • Can easily last for 30+ years
  • Support your jawbone and prevent it from shrinking
  • Don’t require any special cleaning routine (just brush and floss)
  • Allow you to eat whatever you like with renewed bite strength
  • Add volume to the lips and cheeks to create a more youthful appearance
